Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti accepted that his side had been well beaten after the Blues crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Internazionale.
A Samuel Eto’o goal decided the issue at Stamford Bridge, with Inter winning 1-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.
Afterwards a downbeat Ancelotti said: “They played a very good game, we were not able to play how we wanted. Inter deserved to win. We are very sorry but this is the reality.
“We were never in full control. Inter put us under a lot of pressure and were dangerous on the break. There were only short periods when we could control it.
“We have to be strong and have control of our emotions. Maybe the defeat could be very good motivation for the next games.
“We have to stay focused on the other competitions. We are now only in two competitions, but they are of high importance.
“My regret is that we did not play as well as in the first leg. I’ve worked a long time in this environment and it is normal that the manager comes under more pressure if he loses a few matches.”
